Puppy meets her new Parents

We arrived just over an hour in advance to check out the 'drop off' point and see individuals already arriving. Drove to McDonalds to grab something to eat. By the time we returned (12:50), the transport had already arrived and a line up had formed. We waited in line chatting with other adopters for ~8 minutes before holding onto our new bundle of joy. Holy Crap!! We didn't have to worry about her taking off and I'm not certain she even peed. All she did was roll around to be petted. We gave her a bit of water and food...not too much as we still had ~6 hours of driving home. Put her in her new crate with some new toys and her blanket and ball from Jan (foster mom). She walked around a little and then whimpered about 30 seconds before lying down to sleep. We travelled several hours before stopping to let her go to the bathroom (and also Amber had to pee...probably worse). She had a long pee. About 4.5 hours into the drive, we found out that she really did have a bark. Let her out one more time as she leaked a little (was just too excited watching Chris outside the window pumping gas). She had several minutes outside when Sue and Tim picked up the rotifers...in case we had problems crossing back with the dog, we didn't want to compound it with a cooler full of rotifers. We found out at the border that she had a bark again, a whimper and a few whines while Chris was in a line-up inside paying Canadian taxes on the adoption fee, but she was otherwise OK. A man in front of him was paying tax on a pretty large boat with trailer and a motorcycle!! Off to home. Puppy likes snow - likes to play in it and likes to eat it, but she gets cold somewhat fast, so we are trying to reduce her exposure a bit to make sure she doesn't get a cold. We couldn't have asked for a better car rider.

Maybe because we had gotten there so early, we didn't see Fiona's brothers or her sister. We were actually on the road before the time when the transport was set to arrive with full intentions of stopping at all of the many rest stops...didn't plan on Fiona falling asleep so quickly. I would imagine she didn't sleep much on the transport as there were many whiners, howlers, barkers, etc. at the stop so they were probably periodically chatty at different times along the way.

Whatever reservations we might have had are gone. Now...we just need to work on Kitty a bit.
